After another tragic, broad daylight fox attack, there was only one chicken left! Poor Betty was liable to sink into a deep depression without a flock to manage and snuggle with at night. These two are about 3 months old – not quite full grown chickens yet, but not chicks either (although they still “peep”). The are called “Bedlefelders” which is some kind of cross between a Rhode Island Reds and a Barred Rock – both good birds that I have had the pleasure of keeping. These birds are also supposed to lay HUGE eggs, though we shall see. I have not thought of names for them yet. I hope they will have an easy transition into the “flock.”
